Musical Love

I haven't had an actual post in a while (besides Friday Favorites) and so I decided to finally post something legit today. I love musicals. I always have and I certainly always will. There's honestly  not a musical that I hate. I love them all. So today, I'm going to show you a couple of my most favorite musicals of all time....

First up is a musical called Evita. It's a musical that basically concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader, Eva Peron. This musical follows her early life, her rise to power, her charity work, and her eventual death. The thing that is so cool about this musical is that it is partially non-fictional. Eva Peron was, in fact, a beloved Argentine Political leader. Below is one of my favorite songs/scenes from the musical. The song is called "Rainbow High" and it is about how Eva insisted on a glamourous image in order to impress the people of Argentina and promote Peronism. In this scene she is preparing to travel to Europe with her fashion consultants....

Second is The Phantom of the Opera. I adore this musical. It is sooo gorgeous, even though it's kinda creepy at the same time. I posted a trailer for the movie below because I don't have a favorite song or scene from this musical- all the music is amazing!!

Third is Grease. I have seen this movie WAY too many times, but it never gets old for me. It's so great. I love all the music and all the scenes so much!!! Although I don't have an absolute favorite musical, this one is definitely at the very top of the list. Since I love everything about this movie, I'm posting a trailer for this one too.

Fourth is Hairspray. They recently redid this musical and I simply ADORE Zac Efron as Link. He couldn't be anymore adorable. Not only is this a really fun and upbeat musical, it's really inspiring because of the whole civil rights movement ordeal in it. I love it to death. Once again, here's the trailer...

Fifth is West Side Story. This musical is such a classic and so hard not to love. The music is great and the plot is basically Romeo and Juliet, so what's not to love? The musical is about 2 gangs in New York- the Sharks and the Jets. The Jets are the white people and The Sharks are the Puerto Ricans. Then, of course, a boy from The Jets and a girl from The Sharks fall in love, thus causing a problem. In this scene, they are talking about the differences between Puerto Rico and America- the song is called "America".

Sixth is Mary Poppins. This is a well known musical, mainly because it's Disney- but I still love it anyways. It's so magical and I love the music- especially since it's Julie Andrews!! This scene is when the chimney sweepers do their little dance. The song is called "Step in Time". The choreography is so cute and, let's be honest, who doesn't love Dick Van Dyke?

Even though I have a TON more favorites, I don't want to bore ya'll. Plus, it would take me all day to journal about ALL my favorites.
Happy Wednesday!!
XOXO
Mikayla
