Happy Thanksgiving!!!

This year, my family had a pretty casual, laid-back Thanksgiving. We didn't go anywhere and we didn't have any company, we just relaxed at home together as a family. Even though I really enjoy going to places like Colorado and Disney World for Thanksgiving, it was nice to be able to relax at home for once.

The day started off with a 5K, hosted by our neighborhood, called the "Turkey Trot". I convinced my friend, Karina, and her Dad to go with us. Even though I'm completely out of shape right now and the  course we ran on was SUPER hilly, it was still pretty fun and a great way to start my Thanksgiving.

After the race ended, I headed over to the local college's soccer field to play some ultimate frisbee with some people in our stake. Even though it was all boys, except for Tamara, Savannah, Karina, some random chick, and I, it was still an enjoyable time. Needless to say, we definitely got our exercise for the day.

When I got home, I rushed to the shower and then hurried to turn on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Not going to lie, watching the parade is my favorite thing about Thanksgiving. I think it partially has to do with the fact that it's in New York City, but then again, I really like parades too. After I watched the parade, I made Banana Cream Pie ALL BY MYSELF. I was super excited because I've never made Banana Cream Pie by myself, or any pie for that matter.

After a couple hours of waiting for  the turkey, we ended up eating around 2. My mom always does a great job making the table look nice and she makes the BEST Thanksgiving dinner in the world!! You have not lived until you've tried my Mom's salmon dip.... it's to die for.

My mom made a TON more food than this, I just don't eat a lot. I get full really easily.

My mom bought mustaches for our water cups, so that we could tell which was which.
Another one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving- sparkling grape juice

Sophi made these- aren't they adorable??
This year, my mom bought a white table cloth and handed each of us a silver/gold sharpie. She said that she wanted each of us to write the year, what we're thankful for, and our name on the tablecloth. She then preceded to explain that this is a new tradition we are starting and so every Thanksgiving, we can look back and see what we were thankful for when we were that age. So clever! I love my mom.

As always, after dinner we headed over to the movie theatre to see the new Disney/Pixar movie "Wreck it  Ralph". It was a cute movie overall. Honestly, it wasn't my favorite, but I did enjoy it. Also, I'm super excited for Monsters Inc. in 3D to come out (random), except I won't be fully happy until Mulan comes out in 3D... Why does everyone always forget about Mulan?? It's the best Disney movie!! (Random, again.)

Overall, I had a great Thanksgiving and made some great memories. It's sad, but exciting at the same time to think that I only have 1 more Thanksgiving left at home before I go to college. Time flies. Hope ya'll had a happy and safe Thanksgiving!!

XOXO

Mikayla
