"Shrek: the Musical"

I knew that Shrek the Musical was coming to MU for a long time now, so when I heard that someone in my school was selling her tickets for a lot cheaper than the ticket price online, I jumped on that offer. It was basically an "early birthday present" for me, since my birthday was the following week and my parents paid for both Karina's and my ticket. I was so excited because I had heard awesome reviews from broadway.com, playbill.com, and friends who had seen it before. To be honest, it wasn't as great as everyone made it out to be. There were certain scenes that I adored, such as these:

But, the rest of the time- it was actually pretty boring- there were just too many "traveling" scenes. Plus, you couldn't hear the actors over the live band because of the sound system in Jesse Auditorium. It was still fun to go to and I still liked the musical, it just definitely wasn't one of my favorites. If you have small children and are looking for a musical to see with them, they will probably love this. Overall, I think that if the sound system hadn't been so messed up, then I would have liked it a lot more. But it was still a good early birthday present and I'm glad I got to spend it with my friend, Karina.

We actually had pretty good seats- we had the perfect view!

The puppetry that they used in this show was super cool- like this dragon

Love this scene!

Surprisingly, there were a ton of people there- more than I expected. Definitely a lot of kids.

XOXO
