The 1st day of school is a big deal at my house. In fact, you could even call it a holiday. My mom goes all out and we get treats, presents, and a big dinner. The day normally starts off with her making us breakfast and us coming downstairs to a "first day of school" decorated kitchen table. In our spots are little gifts- which are normally full of fun stuff that are also needed for school. When we come back from school, there's usually a treat on the kitchen table for us and later we have a big dinner. This year, we came home to gourmet chocolate cupcakes and hostess donuts. Delicious. In years past, my mom has been known to make a cake that looked like a school bus and even a cake of donuts. This is one of my family's unique family traditions that I've always loved and I am totally planning to do these things when I have kids too...
